Millie Gibson, who plays Kelly Neelan on Coronation Street, has addressed the confusion surrounding the fate of her character following her recent exit from the long-running soap opera.
The 19-year-old actress, who rose to fame for her portrayal of the troubled teenager, has hinted in a farewell message that it may just be "bye for now" for Kelly Neelan.
Gibson, who was born in Manchester, England, has been acting since she was a child. She made her Coronation Street debut in 2019 and quickly became a fan favorite with her complex and relatable portrayal of Kelly.
In a recent interview, Gibson said that filming her character's exit from Coronation Street had been an emotional experience.
"It's been an amazing four years on the show," Gibson said. "I've learned so much and made so many great friends. I'm so grateful for this opportunity, and I'll miss everyone on the soap so much."
Gibson did not confirm whether or not Kelly Neelan would be returning to Coronation Street in the future, but she did say that she would be open to the possibility.
"I don't know what the future holds for Kelly," Gibson said. "But I'm not saying goodbye forever. I would love to come back and visit Coronation Street again someday."
Coronation Street fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for Kelly Neelan, but for now, they can at least take solace in knowing that Gibson is not ruling out a possible return to the show.
