Ebrahim Raisi's Presidency
Ebrahim Raisi was elected President of Iran in 2021. He is a hard-line religious cleric who has been described as a close ally of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
During his presidency, Raisi has cracked down on political dissent and human rights. He has also overseen the execution of hundreds of political prisoners.
