Hugh Neff Wins 2022 Iditarod

March 13, 2022 at 6:53 PM PDT

RUBY, Alaska (KTUU) - Hugh Neff has taken home the title of champion in the 2022 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Neff, who was competing in the race for the first time, defended a last-minute challenge from Richie Diehl to win the coveted title.

Neff and his team of dogs crossed the finish line in Nome, Alaska, at 11:39 p.m. on March 13, 2022. He completed the 1,000-mile race in 9 days, 12 hours, and 39 minutes. Diehl finished just over an hour later, at 12:42 a.m. on March 14, 2022.

The victory is a major accomplishment for Neff, who is a relatively new musher. He has only been racing for a few years, and this was his first time competing in the Iditarod. However, he has quickly proven himself to be a top competitor, and his victory is a testament to his skill and dedication.
