Early Life and Career

Kevin Michael Costner was born on January 18, 1955, in Lynwood, California. He is the third child of Bill Costner, a ditch digger and electric lineman, and Sharon Costner. Growing up, Costner attended Villa Park High School, where he was a talented baseball player. However, he later turned his attention to acting and attended California State University, Fullerton.

Rise to Stardom

After graduating from college, Costner moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. He landed small roles in films such as "The Big Chill" (1983) and "Fandango" (1985). His breakout performance came in the 1987 film "The Untouchables," for which he received an Academy Award nomination.

Award-Winning Performances

Costner continued to shine in a variety of roles, including "No Way Out" (1987), "Field of Dreams" (1989), and "Dances with Wolves" (1990). For "Dances with Wolves," Costner won two Academy Awards, for Best Director and Best Picture. He also received critical acclaim for his performances in "The Bodyguard" (1992), "A Perfect World" (1993), and "Wyatt Earp" (1994).

Later Career

In recent years, Costner has continued to act, produce, and direct. He has starred in films such as "The Highwaymen" (2019), "Let Him Go" (2020), and the upcoming "Yellowstone" prequel series "1923." He has also produced and directed several projects, including the acclaimed Western miniseries "Hatfields & McCoys" (2012).

Personal Life

Costner has been married twice. He has three children with his first wife, Cindy Silva, and three more with his second wife, Christine Baumgartner. Costner is known for his philanthropy, supporting organizations such as the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and Waterkeeper Alliance.
