BELLE VUE 51 TIGERS 39

Belle Vue Aces made it back-to-back wins in the Betfred Super League with a 51-39 victory over Castleford Tigers at the MKM Stadium on Thursday night.

The Aces, who beat Wakefield Trinity 32-18 last weekend, were too strong for the Tigers, who have now lost three of their last four matches.

Belle Vue took the lead in the 10th minute when Steve Worrall went over in the corner, with Jack Welsby adding the conversion.

The Tigers hit back through Greg Eden, but Belle Vue extended their lead when Matty Lees touched down, with Welsby again converting.

The Tigers reduced the deficit to 18-12 when Jordan Turner went over, but Belle Vue scored two tries in quick succession through Jake Bibby and Lewis Dodd, with Welsby converting both.

The Tigers came out fighting in the second half and scored two tries in the opening 10 minutes through Mahe Fonua and Niall Evalds, but Belle Vue hit back with tries from Welsby and Joe Burgess.

The Tigers kept fighting and scored two more tries through Jake Mamo and Evalds, but Belle Vue held on for a deserved victory.

Welsby was the star of the show for Belle Vue, scoring two tries and kicking nine goals, while Bibby and Dodd also impressed.

For the Tigers, Evalds was the standout player, scoring two tries, while Fonua and Mamo also played well.

The win moves Belle Vue up to sixth in the Super League table, while the Tigers remain in 11th place.

Belle Vue will be looking to make it three wins in a row when they travel to Wigan Warriors next Thursday, while the Tigers will be looking to bounce back when they host Wakefield Trinity on Friday.
